Your first eye exam, like every exam with us, will be relaxed, painless and informative. Our doctors will give your eyes a thorough examination and then answer any questions you may have.
Arrival Instructions: To save time at check-in, please submit your paperwork online prior to your appointment.
If you are unable to submit online paperwork, please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment.
Please arrive with all current eyewear, including boxes of contact lenses. Contact lens wearers, please arrive wearing glasses unless you've received trial lenses from our office and are scheduled for a contact lens follow-up.
Although we are unable to guarantee insurance coverage, we try our best to provide you with accurate out-of pocket quotes prior to your appointment. If you have additional insurance coverage through a spouse or parent, please notify our office as soon as possible so that we can coordinate your benefits accordingly. Your assistance in providing all relevant insurance information is greatly appreciated!

What should I bring to my exam?
Please bring your most current glasses or current contact lens boxes, plus your insurance card.
How long is a typical exam?
Your exam will typically take 30-45 minutes, depending on the complexity of your particular situation and any questions you may have.
Will my pupils be dilated?
Our doctors prefer to dilate new patients, but it can be delayed or postponed depending on your schedule. I currently wear or am interested in wearing contact lenses. What should I expect?
To be prescribed contact lenses, the doctor will perform an additional evaluation. This involves calculating and choosing the proper lens type and prescription specific to your contact lenses, as well as additional evaluation of your eye health to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for beginning OR continued contact lens use. This fee is charged each time you renew your contact lens prescription and ranges from $85-$150 depending on the complexity of your prescription.
The doctor must also verify that you are able to insert and remove contact lenses on your own before prescribing contact lenses. If you're a first time wearer, or have difficulty inserting and removing your lenses, a training will also be required. This service adds an additional fee to your visit, and includes up to three follow-up visits in a three month period. Once you are able to insert and remove the lenses on your own, you will only be responsible for the contact lens evaluation at future visits to renew your prescription.
Should I come in wearing my contact lenses?
The doctors prefer for new patients to arrive wearing glasses. It will make the examination process more efficient.
Can I bring my child/children?
Yes, as long as you don’t think their presence would be a distraction for you.
Is parking available?
Queen Anne: Yes, free parking is available in front of the building during office hours. Free street parking is also available near the clinic.
Ballard: Street parking is available, pay by the hour. There is free street parking in the neighborhood just north of the Ballard library.
Roosevelt: There is convenient free 2-hour street parking along Roosevelt Way NE. There is also limited free 2-hour parking in the Cedar Crossing building. The entrance to the parking garage is east of Ong Lam Bistro and west of the Light Rail Station near the northwest corner of 66th street and 12th Ave NE. All spaces labeled 'Cedar Crossing retail parking' are open for patient use. You will need to exit the parking garage to the street via a door on the west end of the lot and walk back to Roosevelt Way to access the clinic's entrance (the garage is on street level, no need to use stairs/elevator).
Do I need an appointment to work with an optician?
No, our opticians work on a walk-in basis, and there is always someone on staff to assist you. If you would like to schedule an appointment with an optician, you are more than welcome to! You can email our our optical deparment directly at email@example.com.
