Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, affects millions worldwide and its prevalence is on the rise. This condition causes blurry distance vision, making it challenging to see objects far away. When myopia is detected during childhood, there is a high chance it will progress and worsen as the child ages. Our office specializes in personalized myopia consultations to discuss which myopia control treatment will be the best fit for the patient.
Ortho-K (Overnight lenses)
Custom Ortho-K lens fitting process typically involves 3-5 appointments over 8 weeks
Treatment cost covers fitting fee, myopia monitoring appointments over 12 months, and one set of lenses
Soft multifocal contact lenses (Daytime lenses)
Multifocal lens fitting process typically involves 1-2 appointments over 2 weeks
Treatment cost covers fitting fee, myopia monitoring appointments over 12 months, and annual supply of lenses
The primary option used is Cooper Vision's contact lens. MiSight 1-day lenses* utilize ActivControl Technology, an optical design specifically created to simultaneously correct nearsightedness and help slow myopia progression in age-appropriate children at the initiation of treatment.
Atropine eye drops
Covers myopia monitoring appointments over 12 months - does NOT include medication cost which is paid directly to pharmacy
Specialty myopia glasses
Currently the specialty myopia control glasses (brands such as Miyosmart, Stellest, and Myovision) are not available in the United States. While they are pending FDA approval, they have been used safely and successfully worldwide to manage myopia progression. After having a myopia consultation with our office, if deemed a good treatment option for the patient, our office can coordinate a referral to a trusted clinic in Vancouver, Canada. Myopia monitoring appointments can be continued with our clinic to confirm treatment effectiveness.
During your 40-minute myopia management consult, your doctor will confirm their baseline glasses prescription and evaluate the health of their eye. The doctor will recommend the best myopia management treatment (soft multifocal contact lens, rigid ortho-K overnight lenses, and/or atropine eye drops) based on your individual goals and answer any questions you have.
If you are interested in moving forward with the myopia control treatment recommended by your doctor, our front desk will collect payment at check-out and help pre-schedule the rest of the appointments for your treatment plan:
